I like to buy cases of apples in Chiang Saen off of the boats arriving from China along the Mekong river... Anyway, one of the places where I give them away is in a Lahu village, near Pai, Chiang Mai. There wasn't any sensible handing-out here, no way. It was pademonium, as the photo suggests, but great fun! 2005
Bird Seller in Tachilek, Burma... They capture these little birds for others to 'set free'... at least until they're caught the next time
I was travelling the back road from Wat Doi Tung to Mai Sai, the one that runs right along the border, when I ran into these two guys stuck at this post in the middle of nowhere 2005

I was leaving the Tachilek airport when I ran across these monks and naens (under 18yo). I grabbed this picture, and a couple of months later, I came back with a framed 8x10 for them. They were pleasently surpised...

This checkpoint is located on the very edge of a cliff on the way to Doi Ankhang, in Chiang Mai- quite a beautiful view, and really nice guys. A great day drive from Chiang Mai, and a chance for some great shots of the mountains, which remind me of the Swiss Alps 2004
